Point Loma is a seaside neighborhood situated on a hilly peninsula that is bordered by the Ocean, Bay, San Diego River, and Old Town San Diego. It was first discovered by Europeans in 1542 when Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo led an expedition to explore the west coast of what is now the USA. The Old Point Loma Lighthouse which guided ships through the San Diego Bay from 1855 to 1891 is now part of the Cabrillo Monument and is open to tourists as part of the National Park.
Point Loma is also home to the San Diego Sports Arena, Point Loma Nazarene University, and the US Navy's SPAWAR program. It boasts some of the most expensive residential real estate with explosive panoramic views from mountains to ocean.
Point Loma has great sport fishing as well as fabulous fresh fish venues such as the Point Loma Seafoods Restaurant and Market. It's location is close to everything San Diego has to offer; ocean, bay, downtown nightlife, tennis, golf, kayaking, etc! You name it and Point Loma can present it!
